Paris for Parents

We are getting excited for our day trip to Paris on Wednesday.  Here's the itinerary for the day

Group meet at Golders Green Tube Station

Go through gate at 6.20

06.25am

Northern Line to St Pancras, arriving 06.40

Alternative tube train at 06.39 arriving 06.46

07.05am

Enter gate for Eurostar

 

07.55am

Eurostar leaves, arriving 10.17 (UK Time)/11.17 French time, at Gare du Nord

Have packed breakfast on Eurostar.

Use toilets on train before arrival.

Change to French time

Metro Gare du Nord to Charles De Gaulle-Etoile

Carnets tickets to be purchased by Ali de Jong

60 tickets (adult) = 6 carnets.

Kim to take Photo outside station

Metro line 4 direction> Porte de Clignancourt. Get off at Barbes-Rochechouart. Change to Metro line 2 direction> Porte Dauphine. Get off at Charles de Gaulle Etoile. Follow subway signs to underground L’Arc de Triomphe ticket office. Do not cross any roads!

Fench time

Arrive L’Arc de Triomphe

Adults 12 euros. Children free.

Our reservation is for 12.40pm, but we can enter earlier.

Ali will buy the pre-booked group tickets

Walk around L’Arc. Note Tomb to Unknown Soldier. Climb stairs to top to see sites of Paris 

Notre Dame, Les Invalides, La Seine, Le Louvre, L’Orangerie, Le Grand Palais, Le Champs Elysées, La Défense. Worksheets.

Toilet available in museum.

12.45 -1pm

French time

Leave L’Arc de Triomphe to go to Le Trocadero

 

Metro line 6 direction > Nation. Get off at Trocadero (11 mins)

 

 

Photos of Eiffel Tower from Trocadero. Descend steps towards Eiffel Tower.

 Photos/Crepes/drinks/ice creams

Go to “Bateaux Parisiens” embarkation point. Boats every 20 mins.

2.40-4.00pm

French time

Boat Trip with audio commentary. Our booking is for 3pm sailing

(1 hour 20 mins). Eat packed lunch and use toilets.

4-4.30 pm

Walk along Seine and cross bridge to Place de la Concorde

 

 

 

Buy souvenir and crepe/drink/ice cream. Use toilets. Use seating area. Leave 5.15 for Gare du Nord.

 

 

Take metro at Concorde.

 

 

 

 

Extra time? Walk through Tuilerie gardens to see Pyramide. Leave 5.30 for Gare du Nord

Walk away from Eiffel Tower along Rive Gauche river bank and cross third bridge (Pont de la Concorde) estimated time-20 mins (1.2 miles)

Visit Gift shop for souvenir and crepe stall for French Crepe/drink/ice cream.

Toilets in Tuileries Gardens near crepe stall. Seating area above.

Metro Line 8 direction>Pointe du Lac.Get off at Stasbourg-Saint-Denis. Change to Metro Line 4 direction >Porte de Clignancourt. Get off Gare du Nord. 19 mins

Extra Time? Metro line 7 at Palais Royal Musée du Louvre (across main road rue St Honoré) direction>La Courneuve-8-mai- 1945. Get off at Gare de L’est. Change to Metro Line 5 direction> Bobigny Pablo Picasso. Get off at Gare du Nord. Upstairs to Eurosta.19 mins.

In preparation for the "Paris for Parents" trip, Madam Ali will be giving language lessons for parents and carers who are coming on the trip.  This is to help them feel more confident about doing this trip independently with their children one day. 

Lesson one:  5 June 2018 includes useful vocabulary such as: being polite, asking for things, buying drinks, pancakes and waffles and numbers to 24.

Lesson two: 12 June 2018 includes finding your way about Paris, buying ice creams and numbers to 100 (using euros) Lesson notes and presentation.
