French Day

French Day was a great success with lots of children dressing up in blue, white and red or as French characters.  We had a Revolutionary soldier, ballet dancers, a footballer, French mime artists, a French poodle and several very chic French fashion models.

After a French-themed lunch the children went on a virtual visit to France, using their cartes d'identité, and learnt about Provence, Paris, the Dordogne and the Tour de France cycle race. They enjoyed making lavender-bags, drawing cave paintings, playing a board-game and making mosaic pictures of famous places in Paris.  We will definitely do it again!

In preparation for the day trip to Paris on 19 June, Year 5 Extra French Club learnt how to navigate the Paris Metro.  They planned routes between two stations, noting which line, which direction and which interchange to use.
